The M-73 Leader's Compass
The M-73 Liquid Prismatic Compass is, simply stated, the best handheld compass in the world. It's incredibly precise, unbelievably tough, and nice looking enough to qualify as a work of art. It makes an outstanding gift for: departing leaders; newly commissioned officers or NCOs; graduates (Ranger School, Q-Course, BUD/S, OCS, Sniper School, etc.). The bottom of the compass can be engraved.
The M-73 is a robust, highly precise instrument made of aluminum, glass, and (predominantly) brass. Like all Francis Barker compasses, it is designed to withstand even the most extreme climates or conditions.
The M-73's prism sighting system allows the user to shoot extremely accurate azimuths. Quick, precise settlement of the liquid filled dial assembly allows for rapid use of the compass in field conditions. Five self-luminous tritium light sources enable night operation.
Key Features:
- accurate to one half of one degree (10 mils)
- prism sighting system eliminates parallax errors
- rotating bezel with lock screw
- needle sets very quickly and precisely
- sights directly on to the target

Every component of the M-73 can be replaced, leading to years of continuous, reliable use and lower service costs.
PLEASE NOTE: Compasses can only be purchased for shipment to US addresses or to US military units or installations overseas.
Francis BarkerTM compasses are not only the finest compasses in the world- they are also a part of history. They were used by Dr. David Livingstone on his Africa expeditions, and by many other illustrious citizens and noblemen since the company was founded in 1848. They have been issued to officers of the British Army for generations, and they are currently used by a number of military forces throughout the world.
